Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, March 28, 2016 — East View Secondary (EVS) saw off Bedok South Secondary (BSS) 11-3 to book their place in the final four of the National B Division Floorball Championship in style.

In a game which East View were dominant from start to finish, Bedok South barely had a look-in and saw their hopes of a top four finish ended in defeat. East View improved to 7-2-0 on the season, their two draws having come in the first round against Bukit Merah and Swiss Cottage.

In the scenario where Bedok South defeat Northbrooks Secondary and Coral Secondary lose to East View in their respective final round two match , Bedok South and Coral would both be on nine points but the former will be eliminated having gone down 10-2 to the latter earlier in the round.

East View had four players scoring two goals apiece in a balanced offensive showing while Amos Pang (#7) led Bedok South with a two-goal performance of his own.

Dani Zikry B Abdul Kadir (#2) put East View in the lead with 9:28 left in the 1st period, drawing raucous cheers from the East View bench. Their lead, however, barely lasted as Amos Pang (#7) equalised for Bedok South less than a minute later.

East View were not to be denied, scoring three goals in a four-minute span to lead by three goals after one. Muhammad Hakim B Selamat’s (EVS #10) speculative long range effort, which deflected into top corner via the keeper to put his team up 4-1, was the highlight of the first 15 minutes.

Final four bound East View saved its best display for the 2nd period, scoring five unanswered goals to put the game beyond a shell-shocked Bedok South team. East View’s goalkeeper was particularly outstanding, making a number of impressive saves to keep Bedok South at bay.

Bedok South matched East View in the final period but it was not enough as they fell to defeat for the second time in round two. East View improved its perfect record in the second round to 4-0, and a win in their next game will guarantee top spot in Group X.

East View next play Coral Secondary at 1pm on Wednesday, March 30. Bedok South will face Northbrooks Secondary at 3.30pm on the same day and both games will be held at the Coral Secondary. The semis will be played on Friday, April 1 at Yishun Sports Hall.
