Hougang Sports Hall, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 – Bedok South Secondary (BSS) defeated Raffles Institution (RI) 5-4 with a sensational final period comeback in the 2nd round of the National B Division Floorball Championship.

Bedok South now have a 1-0 record while Raffles are 0-1 in the 2nd round.

Amos Pang (#7) and Justin Downing (#73) bagged two goals apiece for Bedok South in the victory, while Brandon Chen (#3) scored a pair of goals for Raffles.

The game started with Raffles in control as they had possession of the ball for majority of the 1st period, moving the ball around to create scoring opportunities. Raffles finally drew first blood through Brandon Chen Guan Jie (#3) 6:10 into the period. He soon followed up with another goal 2:55 later and Raffles were up 2-0 after the 1st period.

Bedok South cut the deficit to 1-2 after just 2:47 into the 2nd period behind a goal by Justin Downing (#73). The remainder of the quarter turned out to be a scrappy affair, with 2-minute penalties handed out to Muhammad Zafranshah B Mahadhir (RI #10) and Amos Pang (BSS #7) in the period.

After 2:17 into the final period, Raffles went up 3-1 courtesy of a goal by Muhammad Alfian B Yasin (#13) and it seemed as though Raffles would walk away with victory.

Or so it seemed.

With 10:42 remaining, Lee Shi Feng (#99) made it a one-goal deficit for Bedok South. Over the next 5:20, the flood gates opened for Bedok South as they scored another three unanswered goals behind a brace by Amos Pang (#7) and a goal by Justin Downing (#73) for a 5-3 lead.

On the defensive end, Bedok South locked up and held Raffles scoreless until Charles Goek (#17) scored a goal to keep Raffles alive with 2:20 remaining in the period. However, Raffles were unable to find an equaliser to mount a comeback of their own and fell 4-5.

Raffles will next face East View Secondary while Bedok South will next play Coral Secondary. Both matches will be held at Hougang Sports hall on 21 March.
