Republic Polytechnic, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 – Compassvale Secondary secured a 4th spot finish in Group D of the North Zone B Division Netball Championship with a comfortable 30-4 victory over Canberra Secondary.

The defeat meant that Canberra finished last in Group D with a 0-6 record. With the win, Compassvale completed their season with a 3-3 record.

Compassvale raced out of the blocks with some impressive 1st quarter play. Jocelyn (Compassvale GS) shot an efficient 82% as Compassvale built an unassailable 12-0 lead after ten minutes played.

The pace of the game slowed in the 2nd quarter, as both teams were reluctant to up the tempo of the game. Compassvale were still firmly in control at the half-time break with a 16-1 lead.

Compassvale ended any hopes of a Canberra comeback with an impressive 3rd quarter display. Jocelyn (Compassvale GS) continued to make shots at an efficient rate as Compassvale outscored Canberra 10-1 in the quarter.

With victory safely in the bag, Compassvale took key players Aavena (GA) and Lynn (C) out of the game and gave their reserves a run out. A low-scoring 4th quarter ended 4-2 in favour of Compassvale as they eventually ran out 30-4 winners.

Elsewhere in Group D, Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary edged out Hougang Secondary 25-23 while Singapore Chinses Girls’ School (SCGS) and North Vista Secondary played out a 25-25 draw in a top of the table clash. SCGS took top spot in the group courtesy of a superior goal difference against North Vista.
