Singapore Basketball Centre, Friday, January 12, 2016 – North Vista Secondary (NVS) defeated Anderson Secondary (AND) 37-15 to win their first match of round 2 in the North Zone B Division Basketball Championship.

Poh Ke Hui (#9) of North Vista led her team with 8 points while Hannah Arinah Bte Yuraimi (#11) had a team high of 8 points as well for Anderson.

North Vista dominated from the start, immediately scoring a basket from the tip off. It was clear North Vista had the upper hand as Anderson struggled to get the ball into the attacking half.

Anderson fought hard but could not break North Vista’s tight defense and only managed to score a basket each in the first and the second quarter. Anderson’s Hannah Arinah Bte Yuraimi (#11) was responsible for all 4 points.

Anderson played better in the second half and outscored North Vista in the last quarter. Cheryl Christy Chee (#7) from Anderson sank a 3-pointer in the third quarter to help narrow the gap. However, North Vista’s lead was too wide and Anderson could not catch up.

Yuki Kung (#3), captain of North Vista, said, “I think we played very badly, quite terrible. I think we can play much better. I think we can improve on our defense and communication and hustle more. It feels good to win the game but I just feel we can do even better.”

This was North Vista’s first game of round 2 and they are aiming to get into the top four in the zone.
