Hougang Sports Centre, Monday, February 1, 2016 – Bukit Merah Secondary (BM) drew 5-5 with East View Secondary (EV) in their second match of the National B Division Floorball Championship. Both schools won their opening matches of the season.
Safiuddin bin Salleh (BM #20) had a game high of three goals while Mohamed Farook Mohamed (EV #7) led his team with two.
East View led 4-2 at the end of the first period and Bukit Merah scored another goal in the second to trail by just one goal heading into the final period.
The final period proved to be exciting, with Bukit Merah making a comeback. Safiuddin (BM #20) scored to help Bukit Merah even the score at 4-4, triggering loud cheers from his Bukit Merah teammates.
Bukit Merah rode on the momentum and scored again to lead 5-4. In a desperate last ditch-attempt, East View went all out and attacked ferociously. Their efforts paid off as they eventually bagged a goal in the last minute, allowing them to snatch a 5-5 draw with powerhouses Bukit Merah.
Bukit Merah captain, Safiuddin (#20), said, “Today, my team was off-form. We could have done a bit better. The mentality today was not there, but I think we can do so much better in the next game.”
