Republic Polytechnic, Friday, January 29, 2016 – Anderson Secondary overwhelmed Orchid Park Secondary 70-1 for their third win in Group C of the North Zone B Division Netball Championship.

The latest win consolidated Anderson’s status as group leaders with nine points, ahead of Northland Secondary with six, but having played a game more.

Anderson previously beat Yishun and CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ but the 69-goal victory was the largest of their season so far. On the other hand, the latest defeat was Orchid Park’s second in as many games.

It was a one-sided affair as Anderson dominated the game with their impressive defence and sharp shooting. Orchid Park fought hard till the end but were unable to match up to Anderson’s speed and agility.

Anderson’s tight defence also managed to put off Orchid Park’s offense, preventing them from scoring a single goal in the first quarter.

Anderson Goal Defence’s height made it tough for Orchid Park’s attackers to receive the ball in the semi-circle. On the few occasions when they did, they simply could not buy a shot. Orchid Park’s Goal Shooter was responsible for her team’s only goal in the 2nd period.

Orchid Park were simply not at the level of Anderson, as numerous turnovers and poor positioning meant that they found it tough to even get the ball into the attacking third. However, Orchid Park never gave up and gave their all till the final whistle.

Anderson saved the best for the last, capping-off the tie with an impressive 22-goal 4th quarter for a 70-1 victory.

Anderson next face Sengkang Secondary while Orchid Park will go up against Bowen Secondary.
