Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, January 25, 2016 — A thrillingly aggressive game that saw a high turnover rate concluded with East View Secondary (EVS) defeating Serangoon Garden Secondary (SGS) 5-1 in the National B Division Floorball Championship.

Sharifah Khaliesah (EVS #17) earned herself top scorer honours with four goals.

With solid goalkeeping from both teams, neither team was able to get in a shot, until Sharifah (EVS #17) broke through with an unexpected point blank shot.

This was followed by another goal from her teammate Hrithie (#7), giving their team a 2-0 lead halfway through the first period.

Sharifah (EVS #17) proved her prowess as she blitzed through the second period with three consecutive goals within minutes of each other. The excellent coordination and sound gameplay of East View shone through as their seamless passing allowed them to maintain the lead.

With only 13 seconds left in the second period, Iffah (SGS #18) scored the first goal for Serangoon Garden with a well-timed shot that caught the opposing team’s goalkeeper by surprise. However, a two-minute penalty given to Jenny Yang (SGS #28) set back Serangoon Garden.

The teams cancelled each other out in a final scoreless period and East View went on to secure a 5-1 win.

East View captain Sarah (#5) said, “We could have done better. It was an interesting match, as it was our first time playing with Serangoon Garden. We didn’t get in enough shooting, but I’m glad we all exhibited good sportsmanship in the end.”
