Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, January 25, 2016 — Northbrooks Secondary (NBS) were comfortable from start to finish as they defeated Assumption English School (AES) 10-1 in their opening game of the National B Division Floorball Championship.

Edry Suhairry B Rosman (#10) of Northbrooks bagged a game-high five goals, while Muhammad Firdaus B Abdul Rahim (#13) scored AES’s only goal in the game.

As both teams were clad in dark blue jersey, AES had to wear orange bibs for easy recognition by team mates and official alike.

Northbrooks had the better of the early exchanges, firing shots at AES’s goal at will. Their dominance paid off soon after as they scored five goals in a four-minute span, taking a 5-0 lead after one period. Edry Suhairry B Rosman (Northbrooks #10) accounted for three of the five goals.

The end-of-period team talk seemed to have inspired AES’ players, as they held Northbrooks to a 1-1 tie in the 2nd period to keep the score line respectable at 6-1 after 30 minutes played.

Northbrooks, though, would put up a commanding performance in the 3rd period. Edry Suhairry B Rosman (Northbrooks #10) and Muhammad Amirul Afiq B Rajman (Northbrooks #17) scored two goals apiece in the period to secure the 10-1 victory.

Northbrooks will face Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Rd) in their second game of the season while Assumption English will next face Yusof Ishak Secondary. Both games will be played at Hougang Sports Hall on Monday, February 1.
