OCBC Arena, Friday, January 15, 2016 — Bishan Park Secondary (BPS) came back in the last quarter to beat St Andrew’s Secondary (SAS) 33-32 in their opening game of the South Zone B Division Basketball Championship.

Chua Swee Liang (#7) and Lim Shi Zuo (#11) led Bishan Park with 11 points each.

The teams were neck and neck throughout the game, till Lim Shi Yew (BPS #10) made the go-ahead 3-pointer to win the game.

The match started slowly as both teams were unable to find the net despite countless attempts. The first quarter ended with Saints leading 6-2.

Saints had the upperhand as they made shot after shot to maintain their lead. However, Bishan Park persevered with a strong defence. Chua Swee Lian (#7) from Bishan Park in particular, dominated the paint and blocked most shots.

Saints, led by Steve Lim Feng (#9) who had a team high of 11 points, stayed in front and ended the third quarter with a lead of 25-21. Both teams traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter until the go-ahead 3-pointer by Shi Yew (BPS #10) gave Bishan Park a slim one-point, 33-32 lead.

With only 50 seconds left on the clock, Saints made a valiant attempt to score but were unsuccessful due to Bishan Park’s tight defence.

Bishan Park Secondary will next face defending champions Fairfield Methodist School while St. Andrew’s will go up against Guangyang Secondary.
