Singapore Basketball Centre, Thursday, July 9, 2015 — After a close fight for the first half, Fuchun Secondary (FC) eventually pulled away for the 32–20 victory over Maris Stella High in the North Zone C Division Basketball Championship.
Chee Heng (FC #8) led his team to victory by scoring a game-high 22 points.
Both teams exchanged baskets and played a very balanced game, but Fuchun held a slim one-point lead at the end of the half.
In the second half, Fuchun were able to pressurize their opponents to the baseline, forcing Maris Stella to take shots outside the paint, which did not fall. Additionally, Fuchun managed to force turnovers from Maris Stella, converting them to fast break opportunities. Because of this, Fuchun managed to gradually extend their lead and take the eventual 32–20 victory.
Max (#7), Fuchun’s captain, said, “We definitely played well today. We were able to pass well and our defense really showed improvement. Daryl (#9) were able to make many blocks today in the game.”
Daryl (#9) added, “Our opponents were really tough and they played really well today. We know that we cannot go very far as we have lost 2 matches as of now. However, we will not stop here. We will continue improving our passing, stamina and also our court vision.”
