Singapore Basketball Centre, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 — Seng Kang Secondary (SKS) defeated Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary (AIS) 45–31 in the first round of the North Zone C Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.

Seng Kang topped the group with three straight wins, while Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary have a 2–1 win-loss record.

Keane Liew (SKS #12) led all scorers with 17 points, while teammate, Noel Teo (SKS #13) had 16 points.

In the first four minutes of the game, Ahmad Ibrahim took a 5–4 lead. Not long after, Keane Liew (SKS #12) netted a ball to give Seng Kang a 6–5 lead. Ahmad Ibrahim had a hard time breaking through Seng Kang’s strong defence. Seng Kang took a 19–11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Seng Kang led throughout the game. They took every chance they had under basket and widened the score difference in the second half.

AIS (#11) had a height advantage, but fouled out of the game in the fourth quarter.

Keane Liew (SKS #12) and Noel Teo (SKS #13) had multiple layups and under-basket shots to help Seng Kang widen the score difference. Seng Kang won their third straight game with an eventual 45–31 victory.

Top scorer, Keane Liew (SKS #12), commented, “The opponent showed good defence and we had a lot of turnovers. We missed a lot of under-basket shots and I think we should not commit that mistake. Our aim is to get champion this season.”

Seng Kang will next play Deyi Secondary, while Ahmad Ibrahim will play Pei Hwa Secondary on Thursday, July 10. Both games will be played at the Singapore Basketball Centre.
