Singapore Basketball Centre, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 — Riverside Secondary (RVS) defeated Serangoon Secondary (SRS) 47–13 in the first round of the North Zone C Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.

Riverside have a 1–2 win-loss record, while Serangoon lost all their games.

Mirza (RVS #13) led all scorers with 10 points.

The game started off slow in the first quarter. Riverside took a 5–2 lead at the end of the quarter.

Both teams defended well, but missed many scoring opportunities.

Mirza (RVS #13) rebounded well and managed to score multiple under-basket shots. His team also displayed good teamwork to facilitate his scoring chances. Riverside started coming back and managed to widen the score difference in the second half.

Riverside eventually won the match 35–19 to clinch their first win of the season.

Top Scorer, Mirza (RVS #13) commented, “It was a good game. My team played well. But there are many scoring chances we did not make use of. I think that we have to improve more on our free throws and layups. We need a tighter defence and we have to react more quickly during offence.”

Riverside will next play Chung Cheng High (Yishun) on Thursday, July 10, at the Singapore Basketball Centre. Serangoon have completed all their games.
