Singapore Basketball Centre, Thursday, July 3, 2014 — Woodgrove Secondary crushed Northbrooks Secondary 81–5, clinching their first win in the North Zone C Division Girls Basketball Championship.

Woodgrove currently have a 1–1 win-loss record, while Northbrooks have yet to win a game.

Woodgrove got off to a strong start against Northbrooks in the first quarter, scoring as many as 10 points within two minutes, while denying their opponents of any opportunity to score. Woodgrove held a 27–0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

With less than a minute to go before half-time, Cran Hui Wen (Northbrooks #15) scored the first point for her school. Siti Jollana (Northbrooks #12) scored two points in each of the next two quarters, contributing to her team’s total of five points.

Despite attempts by Northbrooks to score more points, Woodgrove continued their strong game to take the 81–5 victory.

Woodgrove will next face Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary, while Northbrooks will face Yishun Secondary on July 9. Both games will be played at the Singapore Basketball Centre.

Woodgrove captain, Chong Wen Hui (#14), said, “I think my team did a great job and I love them. There is still room for improvement for future matches.”
