Republic Polytechnic, Friday, May 23, 2014 — Temasek Junior College (TJC) defeated Nanyang Junior College (NYJC) 4–2 in the National A Division Floorball Championship.
It was the final game of the season for both teams as they did not qualify for the semi-finals. TJC finished third in their group with a 4–2 win-loss record while NYJC were fifth in the seven-team group with a 2–4 record.
Er Jia Yun (TJC #81) scored the first goal in the 9th minute. Chong Jia Yin (NYJC #10) then attempted a flick shot but it went high over the goal post. NYJC dominated the possession during the first period with their short and clean passes but still trailed 0–1 at the end of the period.
Just a few seconds into the second period, Vianna Peng (NYJC #7) scored the equalising goal. Just two minutes later, Chia Wan Yi (NYJC #11) took a flick shot to give NYJC a 2–1 lead.
With nine minutes left to play in the period, Zenly Ching (TJC #31) scored to tie the game at 2 apiece. With less than two minutes left, Angela Law (NYJC #14) nice attempt was saved by the TJC goalkeeper.
In the third period, Zenly Ching (TJC #31) scored to give TJC a 3–2 lead before Kum Yan Pui (TJC #7) scored another to secure TJC’s 4–2 win over NYJC.
NYJC captain, Zenly Ching (#31), commented, “The game was interesting and exciting. We gave it all out as it was our last game. The opponents were tough and they’re on par too. They gave their best. My juniors have high potential. If they work hard, they’ll definitely make it next season.”
