Republic Polytechnic, Thursday, May 15, 2014 — Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) recorded their second win of the season as they defeated Millennia Institute (MI) 9–0 in the opening round of the National A Division Girls Floorball Championship.
HCI beat Innova Junior College 5–2 and drew 2–2 with Raffles Institution in their first two games.
Judith Lim (HCI #9) scored the opening goal of the match from the middle. MI worked on their defence and kept HCI out for the next seven minutes before the deadlock was finally broken with a successful attempt by Puah Wei Lin (HCI #15) for a 2–0 HCI lead after the first period.
The second period saw HCI riding their own momentum to score five consecutive goals to take a 7–0 lead over their opponents.
The final period saw MI tightening up their defence to hold back HCI for the first 10 minutes. However, Judith Lim (HCI #9) eventually managed to score the eight goal for her team in the 12th minute. Lim Fang Yi (HCI #16) scored the final goal shortly after.
HCI captain, Judith Lim (#9), said, “I think we could have done a lot better, but nonetheless, I feel that today’s match is a good booster.”
