Kallang Tennis Centre, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 — Raffles Institution (RI) defeated Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) 3–2 to take home their fourth consecutive National A Division Tennis Championship title.

In 2013, RI defeated ACJC 4–1 in the finals.

Hannah Chew’s victory against ACJC’s Deborah Wong in the second singles match determined RI’s title. Hannah went down 1–6 in the first set, but she went on to defeat Deborah 6–4 and 6–1 in the second and final sets respectively.

Hannah, who is RI’s captain, commented, “It feels really good, especially when you’re leading the team. We came in knowing that it will be a tough competition because it could go either way. Both sides have really good players so we are really really proud to have accomplished what we have today. I want to thank my vice-captain, Stephanie, for being with me through the whole journey. It was a really tough journey with all the trainings, but I appreciate that she’s been very supportive of me.”

“I also want to thank Hannah for being such an amazing captain and for really fighting on and helping the team through all these. Thanks to the team for really giving their all,” added vice-captain Stephanie Wong.

Victoria Junior College finished the tournament in third place while St. Andrew’s Junior College were fourth.
