Singapore Sports School, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 — Teong Tzen Wei of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) completed his A Division 50 metres freestyle final in 24.18 seconds at the 55th National Schools Swim Championships to emerge first.

Tzen Wei said, “I feel good, as this is my personal best. I’ve been training quite hard for this. I’m quite happy to bring glory to our school. I’d like to thank my coaches, Coach Gary and Coach Richard.”

In a heated battle for second place, both Daryl Ho of Anglo Chinese Junior College and Helou Mekal of St Joseph’s International hit the wall in 24.82 seconds to finish tied for the runners-up position.

Daryl, who was last year’s winner, said, “I thought it was cool. Before the race, everyone was pretty chill about it. What the outcome was wasn’t really important. We swam because we love swimming.”
