Singapore Sports School, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 — Annis Loy of Temasek Junior College (TJC) set a new meet record and personal best in the A Division Girls 50 metres backstroke with a time of 31.51 seconds at the 55th National Schools Swimming Championship.

The record was formerly held by Edith Ong, then of Raffles Institution. She clocked a time of 31.80 seconds in 2008 to set the previous mark.

Madeline Quek of RI came in second in a time of 32.76 seconds, while teammate Nicole Ong clinched bronze in 34.27s.

Annis said, “I feel pretty good as it was my first time breaking the meet record. I want to thank my coaches, parents and of course God. I really prayed very hard for it.”
