Singapore Sports School, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 — Francis Fong of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) completed his C Division 50m Backstroke final in 27.81 seconds at the 55th National Schools Swim Championships to emerge first.

In the heats, Francis finished in a new personal best of 27.68 seconds to rewrite his 2013 meet record of 28.37 seconds.

Benjamin Cher and Isaac Soo completed the podium to sweep the gold, silver and bronze medals for ACS(I). Benjamin clinched silver with 29.79 seconds, while Issac finished just 0.08 seconds after Benjamin to come in a close third. They were also second and third quickest in the heats.

Francis commented, “It feels great, and knowing that so many people have supported me throughout this journey. I simply cannot explain it with just words. Coach Gary, my parents and my friends have really supported me and given me courage to help me to where I am today. For that, I am very thankful.”
