Tampines Junior College, Monday, April 7, 2014 — Tampines Junior College (TPJC) started their National A Division Softball season on a high note by defeating National Junior College (NJC) 14–0.
Pitcher Marcus Chew (TPJC #21), shut out the NJC line up, only allowing Michael (NJC #21) to get a hit off him in the first inning.
TPJC started out strong in the first inning, scoring 11 runs. Lead off batter, Stanley Low (TPJC #22) hit a home run despite a two-strike count against him.
During his second at bat in the first inning, Marcus Chew (TPJC #21) also hit a home run.
TPJC went silent in the second inning but scored three more runs in the bottom of the third, with Toh Ming Tong (TPJC #31) hitting a two-run home run. Marcus Chew (TPJC #21) also managed to score a run for his team.
Three quick outs for TPJC in the top of the fourth ended the game on the mercy rule.
When asked how he felt about the game, Captain Toh Ming Tong (TPJC #31) said that he was happy as the team did their best. He mentioned that the team had some problems before the start of the game but was glad that they managed to resolve the issue and that it did not affect the game. He also hoped that they would continue to play like they did today for the rest of the season.
