Jurong West Sports Hall, Friday, March 7, 2014 — 26 schools started off in Round 1 of the 2014 West Zone B Division Netball Championship and River Valley High eventually won the title with a 25–24 win over defending champions Methodist Girls’ School (MGS).

Two results stood out in Round 1 because the respective opponents were held scoreless. River Valley High beat Hua Yi Secondary 80–0 while MGS matched that score line with a win over Yusof Ishak Secondary.

Eight schools eventually made it through to Round 2 – River Valley High, Commonwealth Secondary, Methodist Girls’ School, Kranji Secondary, West Spring Secondary, Bukit Panjang Government High, Nanyang Girls’ High and Nan Hua High.

Of the eight, MGS was the highest scoring team in Round 1 with 362 points while West Spring was the group winner with the fewest points at 182.

MGS went on to top their Round 2 group to move into the semi-finals where they met and beat Bukit Panjang to qualify for the final.

River Valley, who were in the same group as MGS, lost 31–38 to MGS but still qualified for the semi-finals by finishing second behind MGS. River Valley met and defeated Nanyang Girls’ High in the semi-finals to qualify for the final where they beat MGS 25–24 to win the zonal title.

Nanyang Girls’ High beat Bukit Panjang 34–15 to finish third.
