St. Andrew’s Junior College, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 — Millennia Institute (MI) beat Jurong Junior College (JJC) 3–0 in the first round of the National A Division Girls’ Football Championship.

The majority of the first half saw the ball aimlessly being passed about in the midfield by both teams. Chances were there but neither teams were able to capitalise on them. Meanwhile, both keepers were tested periodically as they made numerous saves to prevent their opponents from scoring.

The first noticeable effort came late in the first half when a shot from an MI player struck the inside of the post and the rebound was quickly cleared by a JJC player. With that, the first half ended goalless.

When the second half began, MI finally stepped up their play as striker Serena Bok drew first blood, scoring the first goal of the match. With one goal under MI’s belt serving as a booster, the team went for the kill with another goal. Their second goal came from the penalty spot after a JJC player was judged to have handled the ball in the penalty area. The resulting penalty was calmly slotted home by Norellynawathi.

Meanwhile, JJC appeared to be disheartened although they have been playing a good match but luck just was not on their side. MI’s third and final goal came late in the second half when Siti managed to get past the defenders, with only the keeper left to beat. Siti proved her worth as she confidently sent the ball past her into goal.

The game ended moments later with MI taking home the 3–0 win, concluding their first game with three points to their name.
