NUS Multi-Purpose Sports Hall 5, Tuesday, September 25, 2012 — The Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) registered an opening 45-33 win over the Singapore Management University (SMU). This was SMU’s second straight loss in their Singapore University Games (SUniG) campaign.

A notable effort on the night came from Sharlene Huang (SMU #12). She contributed a game-high 21 points out of the 33 her team made. She had a game-high of 16 points against NUS in their previous game.

Both team traded baskets in the first quarter with no clear signs of a clear leader. SIM took a slim one-point, 7-6 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes.

But in the second quarter, SMU started to show what they had to take a three-point, 16-13 lead at half time.

The third quarter was a breaking point for SMU as they conceded many baskets and were blown out 13-3 by SIM. From three points down at the half, SIM were now leading by seven (26-19) heading into the fourth.

From then on, SIM didn’t look back, outscoring SMU 14-12 in the final quarter to hold on to the lead and secure their first victory in SUniG.
