Jurong West Sports Hall, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 — Nanyang Girls’ High stood out with a 102-0 win over Chestnut Drive Scondary in Group C of the West Zone B Division Netball Championship.
Regent Secondary look likely to join Nanyang Girls’ High in the second round after having put together three straight wins.
In Group A, Bukit Panjang Government High beat both Methodist Girls’ School (40-13) and River Valley High (34-24). This means that the game between MGS and River Valley High on February 13th will determine who will qualify for the second round.
In Group B, there are three schools still in the running for round two — Nan Hua High, Westwood Secondary and Commonwealth Secondary. Nan Hua High and Westwood have won all their games so far but have yet to play against each other, while Commonwealth lost to Nan Hua High but won their other match against Unity Secondary.
In Group D, Clementi Town Secondary, Yuan Ching Secondary and West Spring Secondary all stand a chance of qualifying for round two although Yuan Ching’s loss to Clementi Town Secondary last week set their chances back.
For C Division, Nanyang Girls’ High and Clementi Town Secondary look certain of qualifying for round two from Group A even though not all matches are completed. The match between the two will determine who will top the group.
In Group B, MGS qualified for the second round as table toppers together with West Spring Secondary who finished as the runners-up.
In Group C, Bukit Panjang Government High and Nan Hua High are the favorites to qualify but Kranji Secondary still stand a chance as they have only lost one group game so far.
Finally, in Group D, River Valley High and Commonwealth should be taking up the other two slots in the second round if nothing goes wrong.
