CCAB, Thursday, July 7, 2011 — Clementi Town Secondary beat Shuqun Secondary 2-0 in their final first round match of the West Zone C Division Volleyball Championship to ensure that they qualified for the semi-finals at the expense of favourites Shuqun.

It was indeed a day to remember as both schools fought breathlessly to secure a place in the nationals, after losing to Bukit Panjang Government High earlier in the group.

Despite Shuqun Secondary being the hot favourites for this tournament as they have home ground advantage for most of the matches, a brave fight from Clementi Town saw them knock Shuqun Secondary out in straight sets.

Clementi Town were stronger, faster and quicker than Shuqun Secondary despite the huge height disadvantage they had. The Clementi Town #7 had crucial spikes and led his team towards victory in the 1st set.

Clementi Town’s setter (#2) also had a few crucial saves and his steady serves which were also instrumental.

The battle between the West Zone teams now heats up at the semi-final stage with each team showing different fighting spirit and character. Bukit Panjang are favourites as they recently won the National U-14 title. Will any team be able to stop them?
