CCAB, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 - Cedar Girls' Secondary defeated Chong Boon Secondary 25-11 in the preliminary round of the C Division South Zone Netball Championships in their bid to advance to the quarter-final stages of the competition.
Cedar proved themselves to be the superior side from the start of the match, demonstrating much synergy and neat passing skills. The first quarter saw Chong Boon trail 1-10, undone by Cedar's seamless speed of play.
However, Chong Boon made a tenacious effort to claw back in the second quarter, injecting much spirit into their game play and scoring four goals in quick succession to narrow the score to 6-11.
Cedar answered Chong Boon's resurgence in the third quarter, pulling away by an additional two goals almost immediately. Their dominance extended into the fourth quarter of the match, fuelled by the outstanding play of their attack. The Group A game eventually concluded with a final score of 25-11 to Cedar.
In other concurrent C Division South Zone Netball matches, Bishan Park Secondary School beat Serangoon Garden Secondary School with a score of 26-11, while traditional powerhouses Raffles Girls' Secondary trounced Guangyang Secondary with an impressive score of 69-6, virtually cementing their passage into the quarter-final stages of the tournament.
