Bukit Merah defeat ACS (International) 52-26 in B Div Boys South Zone basketball

CCAB, Tuesday, January 27, 2010 - Bukit Merah Secondary kept themselves in contention for a Round 2 spot after they beat bottom placed Anglo-Chinese (International) 52-26 in a Round 1 match of the B Division Boys South Zone Basketball Championship.

With this win, they sit in second place with five points and have a game in hand. They will battle it out with Guangyang Secondary, who also have five points, for a place in the next round alongside group front-runners Catholic High.

Bukit Merah led 16-4 after the first 10 minutes with two three pointers by their #7, Jonathan and another from their #14, Karney.

Bukit Merah stepped on the pedal in the second quarter to keep the game out of the reach of ACS(INT). Karney (Bukit Merah, #14) opened the scoring for their team with a three-pointer to spark off a 16-point quarter by his team. ACS(INT) had no answer to this onslaught, and managed only six points in the quarter.

In the third quarter, ACS (INT) stepped up their game and managed to out score Bukit Merah by two points.

Bukit Merah’s #9 notably put in five out of eight points for his team in the quarter, with Ryan (#12) scoring the other three with a three-pointer.

Going into the final quarter trailing by 22 points, ACS(INT) simply had too much to do to catch up and eventually lost 26-52.
