Choa Chu Kang Indoor Sports Hall, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 – Temasek Junior College (TJC) defeated all odds to come in third in the A Division Boys’ Floorball Championship, as they swept Yishun Junior College (YJC) 5-2.

Despite a good start when Nicholas Tai (YJC #14) scored in the first period, YJC did not have adequate luck to carry on in the match. The first goal was scored early in the first period. Nikhil Prakesh Nair (YJC #17) received the ball from Nicholas (YJC #14) and took a shot but the ball was slightly off target. Nicholas got possession of the ball and this time his shot was a goal for YJC.

YJC vice-captain, R. Saravanan (YJC #15) managed to dribble through the YJC defenders several times with his lightning speed and had the chance to score. However his attempts were all stopped by the vigilant TJC keeper, Rafay Khan (TJC #1). Rafay (TJC #1) had the habit of standing up when idle, whilst most goalkeepers would choose to kneel all times to guard the goalpost. Rafay proved his technique and skills were effective as he saved many attempts.

Muhd B Roslee (TJC #19) was alert when he received the ball from his team mate and managed to tap the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal to level the score at 1-1.

The second period saw more goals scored with Muhd Taufiq (TJC #7) starting the scoring streak for TJC. His unmarked shot into the left corner of the goal after a pass from Thaddeus Ng (TJC #17) gave his team a 2-1 lead.

YJC captain Muhd Farhan (YJC #8) tried a high volley pass but was intercepted by Benjamin Tan (TJC #10), who blocked with his body incidentally. Benjamin was quick to react and his shot caught the YJC goalkeeper unawares to make it 3-1.

Just 12 seconds after the goal from TJC, Nicholas Tai (YJC #14) passed to Gary Goh (YJC #11) who scored to make it 2-3 despite a futile attempt by the TJC keeper to save the ball.

Ivan Lee (TJC #5) then rose to the occasion and scored with 9 minutes of play left in the second period to give TJC a 4-2 lead.

TJC continued attacking and were rewarded when Thaddeus Ng (TJC #17) tapped the ball in with a wrist shot. The easy goal triggered a replacement and Edwin Wong (YJC #69) came in for his counterpart, the YJC #22.

TJC goalkeeper, Rafay Khan (TJC #1) was pivotal in the win of TJC. His keen ball sense and quick reaction saw off many shots from the YJC attackers.
