Catholic High School, Thursday, April 9, 2009 – At a time when numerous inter-school games are competing for attention, the C Division softball competition is nearing its final completion. This fact may be unknown to many, but the competition is just as keen.

Catholic High built on a home-run in their third inning by pitcher Lee Jun Wei to eke out a slim 4-2 win over Peicai Secondary. He continued to shut out the Peicai batters in the next two innings with accurate pitches.

Yet the game was notable for the inexperience of the fielders on the pitch, as some of them understandably have had only a few months of exposure to the game before the start of the inter-school competition. Hopefully, this will not result in any major injuries sustained by the players.

Although the win was Catholic High’s second one in the quarter final rounds, a key match-up with Raffles Institution looms. Another contender for a semi-final slot is Maris Stella High. Peicai Sec had earlier lost their game to RI to end their qualifying hopes.

In the other group, ACS(I), Monfort, Damai and Anglican High are competing for the other two spots in the semi finals.
