Bedok Sports Hall, Wednesday, March 11, 2009 – Dunman Secondary claimed yet another East Zone B Division Netball title by beating TKGS 25-18 for their third East Zone title in a row.

The first quarter was a close affair and was played at a high tempo. Dunman emerged with the upper hand and ended the quarter with a single-point lead.

In the second quarter, TKGS began to falter and committed unforced errors for the Dunman team to capitalize on. Dunman began to slowly extend their lead and they also tightened their defense, making it difficult for TKGS to score easily. They outscored TKGS 7-4 and they managed to extend their lead to four points, entering the half-time break with a 13-9 lead.

Although it was a comfortable lead, Dunman continued pressing on for more. TKGS managed to fight back in the third quarter and matched Dunman point for point. It was only in the final quarter when desperation set in that TKGS began committing more errors which allowed Dunman to further extend their lead to seven points.

It proved too wide a gap for the TKGS team to catch up and they finally succumbed to Dunman 25-18.

Dunman’s Coach, Vivian De Silvia, was extremely pleased with the victory. “I am very proud of my girls. They did their best to win this title.”

Team captains Fitriah and Marianne were unequivocally happy.

“We are very happy to win this title three years in a row. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our school, friends and our coach.”
