Republic Polytechnic, Monday, February 9, 2009 – Marsiling Secondary beat Anderson Secondary 19-13 to move on into the next round of the North Zone B Division Netball Championship.

In the first quarter, both teams were evenly matched as they put on a good show of team spirit with good team communication and support. Every goal by Anderson was answered by Marsiling who grew in confidence.

As the game progressed, the Marsiling girls became more aggressive in both their attack and defence. It became apparent in the final quarter that the game belonged to Marsiling as they shut down the Anderson attack, preventing their opponents from scoring even a single goal.

Warda, Marsiling’s captain, who was in tears at the end of the game, said: “I think we did really good. We are very emotional now because we really wanted this. We gave it our all.”

“We really played as team,” she said, “It’s not about winning. It’s the support that counts.”

With this victory, Marsiling move on to the next round of the tournament and will play against the Singapore Sports School, Seng Kang Secondary, Riverside Secondary, Canberra Secondary and CHIJ St Joseph’s Convent.

Good luck to all!
