Awards presented by REDintern Christy and REDintern Zhijia

Hey readers, so the A division floorball season has finally come to an end. We all know who the winners are… but the awards are oh-so-boring. XD So, we decided to come up with our very own tongue-in-cheek floorball awards based on our opinions! You readers can join in the fun by adding in your own awards and opinions too. We welcome them! =)

First we would like to apologize for not arranging one for the girls – we didn’t really watch the girls matches so we cannot really form opinions about the girls teams. Next, we would like to thank Uncle Les for creating redsports.sg and allowing us to create this madness! And then we would like to thank the A Division floorball championships organizers and referees – if not for them, we wouldn’t have such exciting games to watch! Of course, we also have to thank the teams for being so sportingly part of our awards (well, we didn’t officially ask them but we guess it should be okay… Right? Look, we just asked them!)

Ta-da! We present to you – Red Sports Floorball Awards.

Isn’t the award oh-so-cool? So here is what you do it – print it out, fill in the relevant details then attach a pin to it. Remember to wear it proudly on your bag, clothes, socks, etc. (You refuse? You think it is too childish? We are so banning you from our awards ceremony! Out you go! XD)

The team awards goes to…

The Most Impressive Game – MJC vs VJC
Brilliant game by both sides! Those who were down for the match would probably agree with us. It was the most intense match ever!

The Never-Say-Die Team – NYJC
We have watched NYJC fight back so strongly after trailing that our hearts went out to them!

The Most Passionate Team – IJC
They have no funding, no support from the school, and even their coach is voluntary. Despite all these odds, they still continue to play floorball – if this isn’t passion, we don’t know what else is.

The Most Hardworking Team – NJC
They chase down every single loose ball and their defenders just never give up! The players run their hearts out for every single match! It’s heartwarming to see them.

The Most Friendly Team – TJC
We admire them for their sportsmanship and how they don’t bear grudges after a game!

The Most Bonded Team – NYJC
The team where everyone runs out and hugs one another after every single goal? Definitely them!

The Team with the Most Chemistry – MJC
Its always nice to watch MJC play a game – their formations are neat and their passing is impeccable!

The Fiercest Team – VJC
Its hard not to be scared of VJC when you are playing against them (Or so we think… Since we don’t really want to play against them)! They are fearless and their desire to win is so strong!

The Team with the Most Potential – YJC
Although they came in only third this year – we do like their style of playing and we believe that they would do much better next year!

The Best Newcomer Team – ACJC
Out of the four new team this year – ACJC showed why they were the strongest with two wins over the rest!

The best of the BEST Team award – RJC
Hey! They are deserving champions, who else can we give this award too?

The individual captain awards go to…

The Most Inspirational Captain – Ang Kok Liang (IJC)
He is not just a strong player – he is also a good captain! His pep talks never fails to boost the team morale!

The Most Gracious Captain – Gregory Dennis Wong (VJC)
We applaud him for having high EQ – both on court and off the court.

The Most Serious Captain – Ding Jun (YJC)
When we first saw him play, we both thought he was way too serious but eventually we realize that is because he is serious about floorball!

And we also have the eh-are-you-sure-this-is-related-to-floorball awards…

The highest jump seen in a floorball match – Lee Soon Yoong (RJC, #17). Match: RJC vs VJC.
He took the leap of his life after his team grabbed the lead!

The Best "Jump Over The Board" Award – Glendon Phua (MJC captain)
Match: MJC vs YJC. Luckily, Glendon Phua managed to avoid destroying the VJC video camera stationed behind the boards or he might have ended up paying obscene amount of money!

The “Dancer Material” Award – Glendon Phua (MJC captain).
This award also goes to Glendon Phua because we were tickled to watch his jumping drills – it make it look as though he was dancing! Consider a change of sport – you would do well in dance too!

The “Movie Star Material” Award – Lionel Boey (MJC goalkeeper)
The star of the new blockbuster – “Crouching Keeper, Hidden View”!

The “Hey, Take A Picture of Me” Award – Muhd. Zulilhaam (RJC, #2)
Match: RJC vs MI. As both sides line up to hear their captains speak, RJC#2 turned to the Red Sports photographer and said: “take picture, take picture” 😉 and she promptly did so.

The “Eh, Stop Hitting Us” Award – MI
Ouch.

The “Did He Just Do That?!?” Award – All goalkeepers who pushes their opponent’s butt.
I think this is pretty self-explanatory.

The “Run Too Fast For Us To Take Picture/Catch Breath" Match Award – MJC vs YJC.
We have tons of motion-blur pictures as proof. Nuff said.

The most “AA” (Attract Attention) award – Floorball players with pink sticks.
Aww… We can even remember a line-up with two players with pink floorball sticks!

Of course, where will Red Sports be without our darling readers? Next up we have reader-nominated awards…

Madfern proposed a Best Supporters award . From what we have seen, it’s a close fight between the MJC and VJC supporters.

YJC Captain Ding Jun proposed a Most Formal Team award for VJC but VJC Captain Dennis Wong claimed that they were simply too lazy to wash their jerseys. So did YJC wash their jerseys or not? Mystery solved – Ding Jun confirmed that YJC wore white jerseys for the prize presentation and they wore the blue jerseys on the 3rd and 4th placing match. Looks like it was all an misunderstanding! Dennis Wong would definitely have to improve on his memory. =P

glad to be here proposed a Most Touching Moment award, saying that “when the final whistle went, the guys team and even the girls team of mj (at the sidelines) eyes became wet.”

Predictor proposed a MOST number of keepers award for MJC, saying that “Apart from the 3 talented keepers they have, their defenders seem to be multi-talented in keeping goal themselves when they protected the empty goal due to a tactical decision.” We agree.

fb fan proposed a Greatest Save award and the Greatest Goal award, Nicest Jersey and Most Unique Team Cheer award. In awe nominated the last goal of MJC-VJC semi-final to win the Greatest Goal award. Agreed?

air hook fan proposed a (what else?) Best Air Hook award. #16MJC immediately nominated his teammates #9 Toh Zuan Ming MJC, #3 Cheng Zai Hui MJC and #20 Glendon Phua MJC. ju also agrees that “best player that can air hook is Toh Zuan Ming from MJC!” Two more votes for Toh Zuan Ming from py and diqiang. Farah agrees too! Looks like we have a winner!

Glendon Phua proposed a Most Helpful Floorballer award and a Most Lovely & Cute Floorballer award and nominated MJC Yeow Di Qiang. We have to say Yeow Di Qiang definitely wins the Most Helpful Floorballer award for helping Red Sports to do the tedious job of consolidating all the nominations for the floorball girls poll! And who can forget the “lovely and cute” phrase coined by Di Qiang’s secret admirer? Its a pity that he/she (hopefully she!) hasn’t been appearing anymore on Red Sports – or maybe he/she has already revealed his/her identity to Di Qiang and is now his not-so-secret admirer. Heh.

Tracer proposed a the-school-that-appears-at-most-matches-to-support award and nominated TJC. passerby and ju agrees that TJC is definitely the most supportive school – congratulations!

zuan ming proposed a Top Goal Scorer Award and nominated Farah #4 and Glendon #20 from MJC. We didn’t keep count of the goals but we believe that this should be the case!

passerby proposed a New Player of the Year award and nominated either Beale or Diqiang, so what do you guys think? Who deserves it more? He/She also proposed a Best Keeper Throw award for Lionel – indeed we are pretty impressed by the throw! There is also the Best Coach award proposed for the RJC coach for her immense dedication. Most supporting school award was proposed for YJC as their teachers always seem to be down supporting them. Wow, great teachers I will say.

So readers, what do you say? Fill in the blanks for us.

What makes an award ceremony memorable? Yes, you got it – controversy! And we have an VERY VERY VERY CONTROVERSIAL award to give out…

The team with the most number of “handsome faces” award
Quote from MJC captain Glendon Phua. “Hurry up!, Redsports want to take our handsome faces!” We are going to reserve our opinions about this. We will leave it up to you readers to decide whether you agree or not.

Of course, we have another competitor nominated by their very own captain too.

Quote from Dennis Wong, captain of the VJC team: “Hey! I think my team has its fair share of handsome dudes, we would like to contest the award. Ok, Glen?”

Fair enough, we will leave it up to readers to decide who is team that should win this controversial award. Or if you would like to nominate your team in. Welcome!

And we have come to the end of the award ceremony! We hope all of you readers had fun reading and laughing through it. Now that the A division floorball is over, its time for you floorballers to hit your books and study for you A Levels / Promos!

We look forward to you joining our prestigious university! =)
