Turf City Field, Saturday, July 12, 2008 12 pm – Republic Polytechnic (RP) beat Temasek Polytechnic (TP) 3-0 in an Under-18 touch rugby game last week.

It was a blazing hot afternoon at Turf City. The game began with RP turning on the style by securing a touchdown on only their third attack of the game. TP were let down by a sudden confusion caused by a decoy RP run which allowed the RP #23 Cheryl to score a touchdown.

TP were determined to got level on points but were foiled in the final third by a rather disciplined RP defense. TP continued their barrage of attacks, but because they left huge gaps almost everywhere during one of their attacks, RP exploited it to launch a lightning quick counter-attack, allowing Natalie a free run all the way for the second touchdown and a 2-0 RP lead.

TP continued where they left off launching attack after attack, but their defensive errors remained all too obvious and RP nearly recorded another point if not for the alert back tracking of the TP #48. RP slowly took back control when TP began to tire and scored a brilliant touchdown through Renuka to make it 3-0.
