ANZA Sports Field at Turf City, 12 July, 2008 – Republic Polytechnic Pixies (RP Pixies) beat Singapore Polytechnic (SP) convincingly to book a place in the final of the Youth Touch Rugby Under-20 Cup. They controlled the majority of the game on the way to a 5-0 victory.

RP Pixies started off with a flyer by scoring a point from the third attack of the game. Apart from one close call, they successfully prevented their opponents from getting near to their own touchline. Good teamwork was clearly the driving force as RP went for every pass while still maintaining their team formation. SP, on the other hand, committed a number of errors, allowing RP to make a couple of turnovers. The first half ended with a scoreline of 2-0.

In the second half, RP picked up where they had left off and within 50 seconds of restart, they had scored another point through player #1. SP responded immediately with an attack, breaking through and almost scoring. But the inability to receive the pass caused the chance to slip away.

RP remained strong throughout, but SP faltered with every point they allowed RP to score, looking increasingly fatigued and hard-pressed. RP eventually scored again with a great 1-2 pass between #1 and #66 to put the icing on the cake, and securing the RP Pixies a place in the final.
