Ngee Ann overpowers Nan Hua

Nan Hua Primary (NHP) was one of the two primary schools (the other being Poi Ching Primary), which made it into the second round of the U-13 Volleyball Championships. They met Ngee Ann Secondary (NAS) in what was their last match of Round 2.

NAS did not give NHP any chance as they pulled off to an early lead. Their players pounded the NHP side with steady serves which bounced off the NHP players’ hands several times. However, there were many beautiful saves as NHP’s #9 boldly received the NAS spikes and serves. In the shots that NHP managed to organise up for spiking, NHP’s #9 led the attack with her shots across to the NAS side. However, NAS proved too difficult to overcome as they took the set 25-9.

The second set saw NHP give NAS a hard time as they started finding loopholes in the NAS defence. Guided by their coach, NHP bravely went to receive hard hit balls from NAS. NAS faltered a little as a few of their spikes found its way into the net. NHP managed to pull close to NAS at a few instances but NAS managed to pull off to deny NHP the lead. The NAS setter, Jillian (#14) made many spectacular drop-shots which saved her team from losing the second set. Her cross-court drop shots and back-sets saw the NHP players unable to receive her balls. The set eventually ended 25-11.

Final score: 2-0 (25-9, 25-11)
