The day after their overseas playing tour came Jurong West’s first game in the Yuying-adidas Invitational League. Despite their tired bodies, the girls overcame the tough resistance of SAC to clinch their first win of the tournament. With their tight defense and speed in the execution of their fast-break, the Jurong West Girls led the first three quarters. In a tight fourth quarter, SAC put up a good fight till the end. The game ended with Jurong West beating SAC 47-28.

In the other game, hosts Yuying Secondary faced off against Unity Secondary in what proved to be thrilling match from the first blow of the whistle. With an 11-point lead in the first half, Yuying dropped their guard in the third quarter. This gave Unity the chance to reduce the gap to 3 points. The fourth quarter was a nail-biting affair but in the last 1 1/2 minutes, four quick points by Yuying secured their third consecutive win with a score of 42-39.

In the boys’ games, Bukit Panjang Government High played Ngee Ann Secondary in the first boys match. Both teams had a record of 1 win and 1 loss each prior to this match. The game was close in the first half, with good attacking play form both sides. The crucial turning point came in the third quarter when Ngee Ann executed a tough defense to limit Bukit Panjang to seven points while they scored 14. Ngee Ann managed to hold on to the lead till the final whistle with the winning score of 55 to 48.

In the other boys game between Jurong West Secondary and Yishun Secondary, it was a heated affair. Both sides played tough defense and displayed great teamwork. Having only lost to Unity prior to this match, Yishun dominated in the offensive department with crisp passes. Tiredness set in for Jurong West and they went down 33 to 49 to Yishun.
