Chung Cheng High (Yishun) (CCY) met powerhouse Presbyterian High (PHS) in Round 2 of the recently concluded U-16 Volleyball Championships. After having beaten Bukit Panjang Govt. High in the first round, CCY were in high spirits as they progressed on.

However, the PHS players’ skill and experience proved too difficult for CCY to handle. PHS pounded CCY with their well executed “ear-splitting” spikes. CCY’s centre, #3 tried to block PHS’s attacks with all her might. The first set ended with PHS much in dominance.

The second set saw CCY’s fighting spirit ignite as they feverishly tried to rescue PHS’s attacks. The CCY spikers started scoring more points as their attacks from all angles started making their mark. CCY managed to narrow the gap only to have it widen again by PHS. In the end, PHS took the second set 25-17 to win the game.

Though CCY might have lost, they still held their heads high as deep down inside, everybody knew that they had given their best. Presbyterian High will eventually progress into the final and win the Championship.

Final score: 2-0 (25-11, 25-17)
