Hello everyone!

This is Cheng, once again at Toa Payoh Sports Hall, reporting live for the National ‘B’ Division Boys Volleyball Final between St Hilda’s Secondary (SHS) and Bukit Panjang Government High (BP). Brian’s here with me today, and you’ll soon get to see some real good video highlights of the action today in the next episode of RedsportsTV. Shao Wei, our volunteer photographer, will be bringing you the action shots of the day.

Due to really bad weather and some last-minute change in Red Sports plans, we arrived at the Sports Hall a tad too late, and right now, as we speak, the third set has just started and St Hilda’s are leading 2-0 sets.

LIVE REPORT
14:50h – SHS have just won the second set 24-17, after a close tussle in the middle of the set with score levelling at some points.
14:56h – After a slow start in the third set that had them trailing for a while, BP fire up with a few spectacular spikes and counter-attacks that catch SHS off-guard. BP take over the lead 15-11.
15:00h – SHS continue to make a few fumbles while BP surge ahead 17-12. SHS call for a time-out.
15:02h – BP no.3 Lu Zuo Kun makes three consecutive spikes and brings his team up 20-14.

15:05h – BP find their team morale crazily boosted, as they take down the third set 25-18. St Hilda’s now lead the game 2-1.
15:09h – After a beautiful set of rally, BP take another tough point and lead the fourth set early 3-1.
15:10h – SHS no.7 Alvin Lim makes a statement with a strike that catches the BP team off-guard. The game levels at 4-4.
15:12h – The crowds of supporters right behind me are going wild with their whistles and cheers. I am going deaf soon.
15:15h – SHS no.5 Nicholas Wong steps up with another powerful strike. SHS moves ahead 10-7.
15:20h – BP put up strong defence against SHS’s relentless attacks, and close the gap 16-17.
15:22h – BP refuse to let up on grit and level the game 17-17.
15:25h – BP continue to put up an amazing fight, and after lagging for a while again, take over the lead 20-19. SHS call for a time-out.
15:27h – BP make a crucial mistake because of a slight loss in team communication and loses the lead 21-22.
15:28h – BP lead 23-22. Can they stop SHS?
15:30h – Both teams go into a tie-breaker at 24-24.
15:32h – BP lead 26-25.
15:32h – BP win the fourth set 27-25, and keep the game going tied at 2-2. The game goes into the fifth and deciding set, where the winning team shall be the one that reaches 15 points first.
15:38h – Four minutes into the fifth set, both teams level the score at 4-4.
15:40h – SHS take the lead 8-5, as BP show signs of panic.
15:42h – SHS keep a cooler head, and pull away to a 10-6 lead.
15:45h – BP fight back but SHS keep the lead 12-9.
15:47h – BP give SHS a harsh scare, as they struggle to keep the ball alive and make a counter-attack. Efforts paid off, they trail only at 11-12.
15:48h – Hello hello? My ears are ringing.
15:50h – Game stalls, as the Guest-of-Honour Mr Baey Yam Keng, President of Volleyball Association of Singapore makes his entrance into the sports hall. Mr Baey walks past the RedSports Live Reporter.
15:52h – SHS moves a step closer to the championship at 14-12.
15:53h – SHS win the fifth set 15-12, and the crown as National ‘B’ Division Boys Volleyball champions.
