Teacher’s Network, Grange Rd, Wednesday, March 7, 2007 – Serangoon Secondary overcame Singapore Sports School 10-9 on penalties to win the North Zone football title. The full-time score was 1-1 after Serangoon Sec equalised through captain Haziq with five minutes to go in regulation time.

This match really was the best match for me. Even now 3 year down the road, I always remember this team for our hardwork, dedication and of course hope. If not beating sch was impossible. Well having scored one of the penalties I really love this mach even more. Those were the days. To be apart of this victory was… Anw I know it’s been so long but about the pitch I think its wasn’t that bad, recalling serangoon sec pitch is well bad. And I remember sports sch beating us 1-0 at our home ground. So why did they lose to us at a better pitch? Well draw to say. Maybe lady luck sided with us. But I only know that maybe after losing to them before and starting to think that sports sch was Unbeatable, this victory made sure they were human. This victory gave us hope to be the best. Though getting thrash by them ard august 2007, at japan besar stadium. I still enjoyed my time at serangoon soccer and we were will always keep this match in our hearts
congrats to serangoon but i seriously think sports school should have won!eventhough im a serangoon supporter but really i belive the best team lost.given a good pitch and better luck,they should have clinched it!

i think that sports school were not playing their best…they were giving their underdogs a bit of hope in the future to come by letting them win…also, on penalties especially, anithing can happen..the ground conditions were also hopeless… we should just play on nice fields such as jalan besar..then we will see the real talent of all the players in singapore…
I see the two comments above as nothing but excuses, excuses and more excuses.
There are too many “if only this and if only that” which includes the pitch….which was BTW not specially prepared for the winners, S’goon Sec. The ground was a neutral one for both sides whatever the conditions…thus to blame the pitch for your losing the Final DOES GREAT INJUSTICE to the winner. Only sore losers do that !
Sports school, I am certain, will know they have to LEARN to play in any field, anywhere, if they hope to see their full potential realised ( not just St Wilfred !!! ).
You were minutes away from winning…and then the equaliser came.( so your defence got problem in end game situation ! )…right?
You still had a chance in the pen kicks…but S’goon more steady here, right?
BTW, as someone neutral reading all these, I think S’goon kids would not have blamed the pitch had they lost. They’d probably blame themselves, if at all!
And I think they also would never, ever say” we will tear them apart…IF GIVEN A PROPER PITCH” , whatever or however ridiculous that sounded.
Such are neighbourhood kids, simple minded….but WITHOUT FEAR.
definitely if ground conditions were better, sss would have played their normal game and would probably tear serangoon apart, with all due respect to serangoon who fought well. i dont see sss losing on proper conditions.
Anything can happen in football..even the best team lose..given the ground condtion,it is understandable that SSS cant play their normal passing game..maybe the upcoming finals should be played at a better pitch so that our upcoming talent can showcase their true ability..maybe St Wilfred will do..but i like to make it clear that SSS can play better football given better ground condition..
