Serangoon Secondary, Monday, February 6, 2007 – Serangoon Secondary School’s "B" Division boys continued their winning start to their season with an emphatic 4-0 win over Yishun Secondary School this afternoon.

A clash in jersey colours saw Yishun Secondary donning yellow bibs over their red jerseys but that didn’t help them too much as the hosts, Serangoon, took the game to Yishun in earnest at kickoff. Serangoon, bent on taking an early lead, attacked the opponent’s half strongly and were amply rewarded. In the 5th minute of play, a beautiful through ball was played to the center and relayed to the right flank. The resulting right cross was met by Nizam to produce Serangoon’s first goal.

Yishun had a great chance to equalise in the first half in a one-on-one encounter but the striker missed his target.

On resumption of the game in the second half, the host again dictated most of the play, attacking the opponent’s goal relentlessly.  Within 5 minutes, Yishun let in a second goal by Serangoon’s Haziq. In quick succession, a third goal was scored by Abdillah after some scintillating moves by Serangoon.  The best moment of the game came when Yishun’s captain, Arif, Rahim,  from the centre of the field, tried a speculative long range shot which hit the cross bar. It would have been a great goal had it gone in.  (ed. note:  Benedict of Yishun Sec corrected us.  Thanks.

In the closing stages of the game, Yishun’s defence was breached again and they conceded a final goal by Abdillah.
