Singapore Institute of Management, Saturday, September 13, 2014 — Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) defeated Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) 9–1 to record their fourth straight victory in the Singapore University Games (SUniG) Floorball Championship.

Jenmark Sorreda (#10) was the anchor of SIM’s offence, scoring two goals and assisting two others. Melvin Yap (#2) also led SIM with two goals. Tan Chang Tat (#22) scored SUTD’s only goal.

Just five minutes into the game, SIM scored three goals to establish their dominance in the game. SUTD were forced to play defensively throughout the game against their more physical and aggressive opponents.

In the second period, SIM continued their strong offensive play to extend the lead to 6–0. With a minute left in the period, Tan Chang Tat (#22) managed to score off an assist from Ivan Lee (#9), reducing the deficit to five points.

SIM put the game out of SUTD’s reach as they went on to score three more goals in the closing period, clinching the 9–1 victory.

Mohammad Rizal (#9), SIM captain, said, “All of us trained very hard to aim for the championship this year. We finished third last year, so obviously we want to do better. So far, we’ve won all our matches, even against SMU, which NTU, the defending champions, lost to. The most crucial game would be our next against NTU, because that will decide who gets the title.”

Rizal (#9) added, “We are looking forward to the next game and we’ll do our best to win the game. A win against NTU will be a sweet one, because we lost to them by a single goal last year.”

SIM will next face Nanyang Technological University in the final game of the SUniG season on Tuesday, September 16, at 8.45 p.m. The game will be played at Singapore Institute of Management.
