Presbyterian High School, Thursday, March 28, 2013 — Cedar Girls’ Secondary beat Jurong Secondary 2–0 (25–18, 25–18) but did not qualify for the semi-finals of the National B Division Volleyball Championship.

To qualify for the semi-finals, Cedar needed Ngee Ann Secondary to beat Presbyterian High in a later match but it was Presbyterian High who came out tops, winning 2–0, to squash Cedar’s hopes.

Neither teams could get away with a clear lead and halfway through the first set, Cedar Girls’ had a slim 12–11 lead. However, Cedar Girls’ began pulling away with a lead after Jurong made a few costly service errors. Cedar Girls’ then went on to win the first set 25–18.

In the second set, Cedar Girls’ led by a clear margin from the start and were soon up 7–4. Cedar were also helped by a defence that was strong enough to cope with several strong Jurong spikes and return them.

Cedar Girls’ were leading comfortably all the way until Jurong attempted a comeback, narrowing the deficit to two at 18–16. It was the closest Jurong would get to Cedar, who went on to win the second set 25–18 to claim all three points.
