B Div Vball: Xinmin see off Hwa Chong in Group D match

Ministry of Education Sports & Recreation Club, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 — Xinmin Secondary swept aside Hwa Chong Institution 2-0 (25-15, 25-16) in a Group D match at the National B Division Boys’ Volleyball Championship.

Xinmin flexed their muscles right from the start as they powered their way to a 7-0 lead. Hwa Chong’s defenses had no answer to Xinmin’s relentless attacks as the latter blitzed ahead.

Xinmin quickly established for themselves a 17-6 lead, with several main players consequently being substituted out.

Hwa Chong continued in their attempts to make a comeback, but despite managing to score several points in quick succession, they could not overcome Xinmin as the latter took the set 25-15.

Hwa Chong continued their fight in the second set and managed to keep the score close in the initial stages. Xinmin, however, quickly pulled ahead once again to eventually lead 24-15.

Despite Xinmin sending their serve out of bounds at match-point, Hong Xiang (Xinmin #2) subsequently sealed the match for the team as he powered a spike down the line.
