Victoria Junior College, Thursday, 31 March, 2011 — ACS (Independent) played out a 2-0 win over Tampines Junior College (TPJC), with all the goals coming in the first half of their Group C National A Division Football Championship game.

ACS (I) were playing their season opener, as bad weather had led to the postponement of the game with Hwa Chong Institution earlier in the week. TPJC, meanwhile were looking to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to ACJC. However, ACS (I) clearly looked like the fresher side and TPJC were struggling to keep up with their pace and tempo, and it did not take long before ACS (I) opened the scoring.

Right winger Josiah Tham (#15) capped off a remarkable game by having a hand in both the first and second goals. The first goal was scored by him crossing beautifully from the right wing for Stanley Gan (#7) to control and place in into the bottom of the net, while the second goal saw him cross the ball, leading to a goalmouth scramble before Deiver (#11) bundled it into the back of the net. At half time, the score was 2-0.

The second half saw ACS (I) come out hungry to add to their tally, with TPJC happy to sit back and get them on the counterattack. ACS (I) threatened, with Saileesh (#9) hitting the crossbar with a drive from outside the box. There were a few attacks now and then, but both teams looked content to knock the ball around without much adventure until the end of the game.

TPJC will look to snap their two-game losing streak against unbeaten Victoria Junior College on Monday, April 4th, while ACS (I) will hope that they can build on their win against Anglo-Chinese Junior College on Tuesday, April 5th.
