Ngee Ann Civic Plaza, Sunday, November 8, 2009 – They came, they competed, and they scored. All in the name of charity.

2,000 youths played their part for charity when they competed in three sports – Basketball, Football and Netball.

Held in collaboration with Nestle Singapore, the event was held in conjunction with T-Net Club's "Score with a heart, YOUth play a part", where every goal or point scored during the tournament was matched by a donation from Nestle Singapore.

The sudden downpour in the late afternoon did not dampen the mood of the participants as they went on a scoring spree throughout the one-day tournament. They managed to raise $4,768 worth of food items for the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society.

Despite the charitable sentiments all around, it was business as usual on the courts. It was fierce competition at the Soccer court, where underdogs Sembawang Cuicado caused a major upset when they bundled tournament favourites T-Net Club @ Bukit Merah A out at the semi-final stage in the Under-18 category.

Unfortunately, they could not complete their fairytale ending as they were soundly beaten by Youngsters in the final. T-Net Club @ Bukit Merah A salvaged some pride as they edged Bukit Merah 7 for third place.

The Knights from Zhenghua Primary School dominated the Under-12 category. They smashed the competition on their way to an all-Zhenghua final. In the end, Zhenghua Knights 1 beat Zhenghua Knights 3 to win the competition.

Young Tigers were a tad unlucky, as they lost to Bad Boyz @ Marine Parade on penalties during the 3rd and 4th place playoff.

It was no less exciting on the netball court where the Raffles Girls’ School made a clean sweep of the Under-13 and Under-17 Netball titles.

The younger Rafflesians defeated the girls from Anderson Secondary School whilst the Under-17 final was an epic battle between Raffles Adiprene and Raffles Adistar which ultimately went the Adiprene's way.

Temasek Poly Team Callisto managed to hold their spot as the 2nd runner-up over Raffles Climacool.

The Under-13 girls from T-Net Club @ Geylang West, IJ Lollipopz and Pasirian, battled for the 3rd and 4th placing in a slight drizzle which proved to be an advantage for IJ Lollipopz who eventually won the struggle.

The Basketball competition was a mammoth marathon as 100 teams competed for the honours. In the end four teams triumphed over the rest.

Unsurprisingly, all the winners came from Basketball powerhouse, T-Net Club @ Bukit Merah. The Bukit Merah Threes won the Under-17 Boys category when they beat Bukit Merah Niners in the finals.

One Bukit Merah beat BM Eight in the Under-17 Girls Final. The Under-14 Boys final was a low key affair as The Bukit Merah Perfect 10 emerged clear winners.

The Under-14 Girls Final threw up the only non-Bukit Merah winner of the day, Autofocus smashing every team in their path to the title.

Onstage, spectators were treated to the dazzling hip hop displays of E-Merged and Freakzy Nutz. Their energetic and acrobatic performances captivated the judges, and it took a recount amongst the judges before Freakzy Nutz won the Pulse! Hip Hop Knockout 4 competition by a single point. Talk about a photo finish!

This year's Sports Fiesta 2009 featured a new singing competition, "Youth Got Talent". Over 100 youths turned up for the auditions including 2006 Singapore Idol 2nd Runner-up, Jasmine Tye Meifen, and 2009 Campus Superstar 5th Runner-up, Rachel Lim.

It was a talented line-up, and it took a truly inspiring performance by Muhammad Fairus Bin Adam to win the Open Category ahead of Ainul Suhaidah and Jasmine Tye. The Youth Category was just as tough, and Tan Yu Quan' self composed performance edged out the soulful Aisyah Bte Salim for the win.
