Republic Polytechnic, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 — Meridian Junior College (MJC) continued their flawless run with 6–2 victory over Raffles Institution (RI) in the group stage of the National A Division Girls Floorball Championship.

This was the fourth straight win for MJC while RI has a win, a draw and two losses.

MJC took first blood in the first few minutes of the game with Adeena (#33) placing one at the back of the net. Jocelyn Lee (MJC #7) added another goal to increase the lead to two. Sim Hong (RI #7) managed to score one to end the first period to reduce RI’s deficit to a single point.

MJC scored three more goals in the second period to extend their lead to 5–1 heading into the third period.

RI came back to score a goal early through Tan Jia Hui (#12) in the last period. A foul by Sim Hong (RI #7) resulted in a power play situation that lasted one minute and thirty nine seconds. Ho Lin Xuan (MJC #80) scored a goal to seal the 6–2 victory for MJC.

MJC captain, Mindy Lim (#6), said, “It was an intense game. We did well in both offence and defence. We missed a lot of our shots but I’m glad we didn’t give up.”

Jocelyn Lee (MJC #7) added, “We tried to take a lot of shots but we missed. It was quite a waste.”
