World records – the end is near?

It was reported this week that experts at the French institute of sport IRMES predicted that after 2060, there would be no new sporting records. That's because humans would have reached their physiological limits. The study was based on an analysis of world records, focusing on five sports - athletics, cycling, weightlifting, swimming, and speed skating.

A ball with brains

adidas and Cairos Technologies presented the new Goal Line Technology and the adidas intelligent football tested at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan from December 7 through 16, 2007. The official match ball of the tournament, adidas Teamgeist II, features a new intelligent technology designed to assist the referee's decision in determining when and if the ball has crossed the goal line, making it the most accurate football ever produced.
