Fighting fatigue from extra time, waterlogged conditions and a resurgent Hong Kah (HK) team, Queensway Secondary’s Gur Roshan Singh dribbled almost half the length of the field before coolly chipping the winning goal for Queensway Secondary’s first ever title.
Football powerhouses Hong Kah Secondary School secured their spot in the National B Division School Premier League 2 Football final after beating St. Joseph’s Institution (SJI) 2-1 in the semi-final.
Hong Kah sealed their place in the second round of their School Premier League 2 campaign at the expense of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) after a 3-1 victory in which each half was played on separate days.
A headed goal by Lucas Ng (#21) from a set-piece, Lee Banbury (#12) free kick in the first half proved the difference between two equally matched sides.
Jurongville could have levelled the match in stoppage time when they won a penalty. However, their goalkeeper, Muhd Rifqi Bin Kamarruzaman (#1), missed.
Crest’s Lawson Goh (#15) had a game high of 8 points while Jovin Ang (#1) and Peng Hsin-chih (#17) from Hong Kah both led their team with 6 points.
With this win, Hong Kah complete their season with a 2–4 win-loss record. Both Hong Kah and Dunearn did not qualify for the second round.
Jurongville (JVS) led throughout the game to defeat Hong Kah 37–17. The win puts JVS on a 3–0 win-loss record.
