SEA Games: 369 athletes to go; table tennis in limbo

369 athletes were selected to represent Singapore at the upcoming South East Asian (SEA) Games in Indonesia in November, 2011. In the meantime, the SNOC have deferred their decision on the table tennis representatives.

Youth Olympic Taekwondo: Christopher Lee misses out on third medal for Singapore after 12-1 quarter-final defeat

Singapore’s final taekwondo representative Christopher Lee was in contention for Singapore’s third medal of the Games when he received a bye to the Men’s 73kg quarter-final. He faced a tall task against current world junior champion Kim Jin Hak and eventually succumbed 12-1 to the mighty Korean.

Youth Olympics Taekwondo: Daryl Tan wins Singapore’s first Youth Olympic medal while Zakirah falls in the quarter-finals

Daryl Tan claimed the first ever Youth Olympic Games (YOG) medal for Singapore after falling to world champion Rezaei Kaveh of Iran 12-0 in the semifinal of the Men Under 55kg Category. Daryl took home the bronze medal and prior to that, beat Burmese Shein Naing Dwe Shein 6-4 to qualify for the semifinal. On the other hand, his compatriot Nur Zakirah Zakaria was defeated by Canadian Melanie Phan 15-6. Losing on the home ground, Zakirah teared after her game.
