Youth Olympic Equestrian: Caroline Chew does well to finish joint-17th amidst tough competition

Caroline Chew, together with her Gelding Thoroughbred, Gatineau, finished a respectable joint-17th after knocking down only two poles of Obstacle 4. Clearing the rest of the eleven obstacles without mistakes, she finished the near-perfect round with a time of 75.12 seconds, scoring 4 jump penalties and 12 total penalties.

Singapore's Muhammed Hanurdeen Bin Hamid did not progress to the final of the boxing men's 48kg light-flyweight bout despite giving an all-out attacking performance in the Youth Olympic Games. International Boxing Association (AIBA) World Youth Champion Salman Alizada proved to be more experienced, winning the bout 9-1 against the Singaporean.

Youth Olympic Volleyball: Singapore girls put up gutsy display in loss to Japan

Despite starting the match positively with a tremendous display of teamwork, Singapore could not keep up their positive momentum early on in the first set as they lost in straight sets against Japan in Match 3 of Preliminary Pool A of Women’s volleyball. Japan were tactically more aware during the game as they concentrated their offensive on Singapore’s fast tiring defense towards the end, handing the hosts a concise 9-25, 16-25, 9-25 defeat.
